Lost in Translation?

Have I been gone too long enough? Oh (big) NO! I'm getting lost with the new blogger format.Yikes! This reminds me of the constant changes Facebook developers elicit. I say it again, I am an innately loyal person and with that I meant to say reluctant. I hate to see CHANGES happening all over me. It creeps me out. I know it's not (and never will be) good to just forever be content to roam in the limited confines of my comfort zone but that's just it. I'm a recluse and I'm so OK with that.

Off-topic. I'm exhibiting no drama. All I wanted was to post this. Oh, isn't it lovely?

There are some things in the book that I don’t entirely agree with, but I did find some points interesting.
Like this:
  • I really don’t care that much about “Beauties.” What I really like are Talkers. To me, good talkers are beautiful because good talk is what I love.
  • Of the five senses, smell has the closest thing to the full power of the past. Smell really is transporting. Seeing, hearing, touching, tasting are just not as powerful as smelling if you want your whole being to go back for a second to something.
  • The most exciting attractions are between two opposites that never meet.
  • I can never get over when you’re on the beach and how beautiful the sand looks and the water washes it away and straightens it up and the trees and the grass all look great. I think having land and not ruining it is the most beautiful art anybody could ever want to own.
  • Being good in business is the most fascinating kind of art. During the hippie era people put down the idea of business- they’d say, “Money is bad,” and “Working is bad,” but making money is art and working is art and good business is the best art.
  • Sometimes people let the same problem make them miserable for years when they could just say, “So What.” That’s one of my favorite things to say. “So What.”

    Florence + the Machine

I love caturdays and she says, "the dog days are over"?

"Possibly completely irrelevant, but does anyone else imagine themselves escaping from an ancient village that is being raided by horsemen when they hear this song?"

    I like it a lot.

Florence Welch also sings on the Imelda Marcos song cycle by David Byrne and Fatboy Slim. The title track, Here Lies Love. (via)

Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swaps of the not-quite, the not-yet, and the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists.. it is real.. it is possible.. it’s yours.

    Posh trivia everyday.

Designed to improve the way people experience information, Qwiki is rad.

I just thought the "no pants" trend is kind of rad, too. =)

    Currently flipping...

My mind is all sorts of kaput right now. The architecture gods  were definitely not on my side today; in fact, I think they were laughing at me. I’m just awful - I hate me! Hah!

Fishing for some inspiration - something that will help me nourish my work attitude - I tried to skim through my to-do list but I found this book instead. I've heard about this a couple of years ago - coincidentally, from my utmost source of stress, a defunct client who happened to be a good source of (very) good reading materials. (OK, I feel truly sorry I just gave her up...I still have pending work items to accomplish for her office and I intend to finish it all, I mean good riddance, if there still is left.)

I'm cracking the definitive edition; I still don't know which of the three versions (A, B or C) this belongs. I will know once I get further on in the next few chapters.

The Diary of a Young Girl is a book of the writings from the Dutch language diary kept by Anne Frank while she was in hiding for two years with her family during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. The family was apprehended in 1944 and Anne Frank ultimately died of typhus in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. After the war, the diary was retrieved by Anne's father, Otto Frank, the only known survivor of the family. The diary has now been published in more than 60 different languages. (via)

    Read and Share.

I'm supposed to be working on an overdue assignment - but - Look! How can you skip this better-than-facebook site? My browser's flooded with a selection of good (I believe), light and heavy reads.

Oh my Lordie! Please grant me a well-rounded life - I love my job but I really think I need to flip more titles.
